Synth Library Prague - Pod Terebkou 1139/15, Praha 4 Nusle

Lukáš Paleček’s Talking Machines speak again. For the time being, we have has focused on publishing the emerging audio archive of Lukáš’s “The Talking Machines”. This year, the existing archive of audio works will be expanded to include forms of live collaboration at Synth Library Prague.

Join the sound workshop, which we are organizing in collaboration with the Synth Library Prague collective. During the workshop we will give space to sound imagination, listening to our surroundings and lend new voices to the things around us. We will learn the basic procedures of working with sound, editing, processing and try to create sound collages, new soundscapes and sound homes.

Lukáš Paleček lends his voice to various things and machines through his performative and sound work. He is interested in old devices such as Romo and Tatramat washing machines or Tesla radios and tape recorders and the language these things use to speak and express emotions. Lukáš likes to collaborate and perform. In 2022, the Institute of Anxiety is focusing on publishing an emerging audio archive of Lukáš’s “Talking Machines”. This year the existing archive of audio works will be developed to include forms of live collaboration in the Synth Library.
The aim of this collaboration is to expand the spectrum of what we consider music and sound art through working with our own bodies, performativity, connecting to animate and inanimate elements in our environment and exploring the way they communicate and speak.

No previous experience in music and sound design is necessary. We welcome beginners*ice.

Lukáš Paleček (born 1977) lives and works in Prague. Since 2013, he has been creating his works – drawings, objects and sound performances at the Joyful Creation Studio in Prague 7, Letná, a creative workshop that focuses on promoting “spontaneous creation”. Lukáš has participated in several group exhibitions, among others at the Hybernská Campus, DOX Contemporary Art Centre and NOD Gallery. In 2019, he had a solo exhibition entitled Romo washing cucumbers at Jelení Gallery in Prague.
Talking Machines is a living archive of Lukáš Paleček’s performative and sound works, which the Institute of Anxiety, in collaboration with Barvolam, Ivan Svoboda and Jonáš Richter, has been systematically documenting since 2019.
