Call for Participation: Should We Stay or Should We Go?
An Evening of Sharing centred on de/institutionalization…
Prague
Open Call
In the Evening of Sharing, we plan to focus on the social consequences of institutionalization and deinstitutionalization and find ways to radically transform institutions or dismantle them.
We invite those who are trying to seek alternatives, parallel structures, or forms of escape or change from within to share their experiences with us. We are starting from the conviction that our personal experiences have political significance, and thus invite you to discuss your experiences, attitudes, and strategies related to the topic of de/institutionalization.
We wish to focus on the following questions, to give a few examples:
How do various institutions influence your everyday life?
What do you wish to change in institutions? On the other hand, do institutions have any aspects that you would not like to give up?
Is fighting over institutions liberating? Lonely? And is life outside of institutions also a solitary existence?
Does it make sense to fight within institutions, or more from the outside?
Can one imagine and create a society without institutions? What are the alternatives to institutionalization?
How can we, at least in part, deinstitutionalize our own institutionalized lives?
Is deinstitutionalization a form of escape? Is it possible to escape, and where to?
How can we create institutions in a democratic and participatory way? How can we stop new and alternative institutions from turning against us?
The Evening of Sharing is an intimate format for approximately 20 people, each of whom is a direct participant and thus co-creator of the evening; nobody finds themselves in the role of the audience.
We invite and welcome all who wish to think critically and discuss their experiences with de/institutionalization to write us a few sentences about their proposed contribution at the email address: deinstitucionalizaceiu@gmail.com.
The Evening of Sharing is a component of the program of the newly created Institute of Anxiety.
