I am Vanda Vieira-Schmidt, the author of the World Rescue Project

Since the mid-90s, Vanda Vieira-Schmidt (1949) has been working on her World Rescue Project, in which she produces dozens or even hundreds of drawings and water colours a day. Through them she neutralises the everyday presence of violence, prevents war conflicts, and fights various forms of supremacy and oppression.

Vanda Vieira-Schmidt was laid off from the Berlin Psychiatric Clinic in 1995 and since then has lived and worked in sheltered accommodation in Berlin. She is very critical of her experience with psychiatry. Her works have been displayed by Thomas Roeske, director of the Prinzhorn Collection in Heidelberg, and since 2016 have formed part of the joint exhibition The Keeper at the New Museum in New York.
