Residency: Micol Assaël
Residency of the Greek artist in November 2018.
Setting uncut questions in urban landscapes, looking for thought’s convergences through mirroring contexts while skipping electromagnetic waves over a river…
Residency of the Greek artist Micol Assaël realized with the support of the Goethe-Institut in Prague in November 2018.
Micol Assaël (b. 1979, lives mainly in Greece) studied Philosophy and Art History in Rome while collaborating with several artists. Her practice generally focuses on sculpture, drawing and sound installation. The raw materials she uses, such as air, water and electricity, question the environment that they inhabit as new set of paradigms in the experience and in the perception of the work. The technical and semantic implications of these paradigms become a theoretic tool in the attempt to open new prospects of comprehension. She had solo shows at Kunsthalle Basel, Hangar Bicocca, Kunsthalle Friedericianum, Palais de Tokyo, Secession, and Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna and participated, among others, in the 50th and 51st Venice Biennale, Manifesta 5th, Berlin 4th, Moscow 1st, Sydney 16th and Sao Paulo 28th. She lectures randomly in art institutions.
